Meet Our Dentists

Dr. Tabatha Adams joined our Georgetown, Kentucky, practice in January 2016. Dr. Adams is originally from Sayersville, Kentucky, and attended Morehead State University, where she received her undergraduate degree. Dr. Adams received her dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Adams enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters, as well as reading, gardening, cooking and antiquing.

Originally from Prestonburg, Kentucky, Dr. Allen completed his undergraduate degree at Georgetown College before earning his dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. After dental school, he relocated to Georgetown, Kentucky. Dr. Allen enjoys creating healthy smiles for his patients and getting to know them on a personal level. In his spare time, he likes to travel, play golf and spend time with his labradoodle, Chewie.

Dr. Michael Barrington has had the pleasure of serving the great people of Frankfort for over a decade. He has a great love for the community and takes pride in making his patients feel as comfortable as possible. Having been in a dental chair many times, he knows what it feels like to be a patient and always wants those he serves to feel as comfortable as possible. Dr Barrington has had early exposure to the field of dentistry. He grew up as a patient of Dr. O Wayne Mortenson in Middletown, Kentucky. During his undergraduate studies, he spent summers working with Dr Wayne as an assistant. This experience encouraged Dr. Barrington to study dentistry at the University of Louisville and earn his dental degree. He strives to provide comprehensive care and has had many hours of additional training in the areas of dentures, implants, root canals, and crowns. In addition, he is a graduate of Eastern High School, where he was named a 1999 Governor Scholar and the 2000 class valedictorian. He went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Chemistry from Brigham Young University. Dr Barrington is also fluent in Spanish, having served a two-year mission for his church in Argentina. Dr. Barrington is a Lifetime Qualified Member of the Crown Council. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their 5 children. He also enjoys volunteering in his church and playing football.

Dr. Rebecca Blair is originally from Independence, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky where she received a Bachelors of Science in human nutrition before attending the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry for her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. Dr. Blair has experience working with patients with anxiety and traumatic brain injuries. She says what she enjoys most about dentistry is the interaction with patients and their families. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading books, playing board games, cooking and baking. She likes trying new foods!

Dr. Scott Boatright is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Boatright spent a few years practicing in Paducah, Kentucky, before returning to Louisville. Since joining our team in 2000, Dr. Boatright has proven to not only give the very best dental care to his patients, but also provides them with outstanding service.

Dr. Blair Brown was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Brigham Young University in 2005 before moving to Louisville to attend the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During his freshman year of dental school, he met, dated and married his wife, Laura, who is from Richmond, Kentucky. Dr. Brown graduated in May 2009 and has been with Mortenson Family Dental ever since. He and Laura have five wonderful children, Cami, Noah, Ali, Ryan and Lily. When not working, Dr. Brown enjoys playing with his children, camping, fishing, cooking, BBQ, and watching movies.

Dr. Jason Chen was born in China, but grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended the University of Louisville where he studied biology before attending the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He says it was his parents’ fear and anxiety over their own visits to the dentist that influenced him to become a dentist. It’s very important to Dr. Chen that he’s able to alleviate those fears for patients who share the same feelings as his parents. Continuing his dental education is also important to Dr. Chen. He knows that continuing to learn about advances in the dental profession is what allows him to provide the best treatment and care for his patients. 

Dr. Chen is married to his amazing wife and together they are raising their beautiful daughter and two family dogs, Skippy and Huey. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family, running, working out, and doing yoga. He likes to try new restaurants, but does say his favorite food is Mexican and his wife’s spaghetti!  

Dr. Emily Clark was introduced to dentistry while volunteering at a nonprofit dental clinic in her hometown of Rochester, Minnesota. From that experience, she knew she wanted to be a dentist. She attended the University of Minnesota where she received her Bachelor of Science in chemistry before moving on to dental school. Dr. Clark says what she enjoys most about being a dentist is getting to know her patients and helping them improve their smiles by either easing their pain or improving their self confidence. She has lived in Minnesota and Alabama, loves all things football, and even though she roots for Minnesota teams, her soon-to-be husband is a graduate and employee at the University of Louisville, so she’s also a Cards fan — go Cards!  Dr. Clark is Invisalign certified and always looking for ways to expand her dental knowledge and skills. In her spare time, she loves to play golf, do yoga, travel, try new restaurants, cook and chase after her two dogs, Bella and Dina.

Dr. Tom Cranfill attended the University of Kentucky where he received a Bachelor of Science in biology before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Cranfill is also a United States Navy veteran and a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Kentucky Dental Association, Louisville Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and Special Care Dental Association. With over 26 years of experience practicing dentistry, he is more than comfortable with providing all aspects of general dentistry, but admits to being an advocate for comprehensive care for his patients. He enjoys both fixed and removal prosthodontics and considers these cases both challenging and rewarding. He says there is something about restoring a patient’s function and confidence that still excites him! 

Dr. Cranfill was influenced by his grandfather to become a dentist, who was active in dentistry for 45 years. He helped mentor him and instilled values on how to always treat patients and people in general with kindness and respect – a philosophy he carries with him to this day. 

Dr. Cranfill has been married to his spouse, Audra, for over 30 years. Together they have two children, Samantha and Joseph, and a granddaughter, Nora. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time and going to sporting events with his family as well as playing and listening to music. His favorite sports are college basketball – Go CATS – and professional baseball, Atlanta Braves.

Dr. Mikai Critchfield is originally from San Jose, California. He received a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from North Carolina State University before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. What Dr. Critchfield enjoys most about dentistry is the skill and technique, and he finds the artistic component of it to be very scientific. As a dentist, he prioritizes establishing a relationship with his patients and creating a treatment planning philosophy that encourages patient interaction and input in patient care. 

Dr. Critchfield has an identical twin brother and in his spare time enjoys weight lifting and reading. 

Dr. Sogol Davari attended the University of Louisville where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Davari was born in Mashhad, Iran, but has lived in Louisville for so long that she considers this home. She believes her personal and professional growth comes from giving back to the community. She volunteers with organizations like Remote Area Medical and the Free Smile Clinic where she donates her time and expertise to help those in need of dental care. 

Dr. Davari has a genuine passion for boosting the confidence of her patients by enhancing their smiles. She strives to take the time to listen to their concerns and ensure they understand every step of their treatment. She finds great satisfaction in the intricate work of dentistry and stays on top of advancements in the field in order to provide the best care possible. 

In her spare time, Dr. Davari enjoys painting and hiking in the beautiful landscapes of Bernheim Forest in Kentucky and Huber’s Family Farm in Indiana.

Originally from Russellville, Kentucky, Dr. Shana Dean received a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from Western Kentucky University before earning her Doctor of Dental Medicine from University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Dean is a member of the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association and the Louisville Dental Society. She credits her childhood dentist and college career counselor with influencing her to become a dentist. What she loves most about dentistry is helping her patients feel great about their smile. In her spare time, Dr. Dean loves being on the water while boating, skiing and kayaking — it’s no wonder blue is her favorite color! She also enjoys traveling, board games, trivia nights, watching soccer and basketball, and eating tacos, which she could do “all day, every day.” 

Dr. Michael Dick graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and is an active member of the American Dental Association and Kentucky Dental Association. Dr. Michael is a firm believer in continuing his education and learning techniques to help better his patient’s oral health. He has a sensitive patient manner, putting patient satisfaction first in his work. Dr. Michael Dick is committed to providing outstanding patient care and has been serving the southern Indiana area for over six years while also practicing in St. Matthews.

A graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, Dr. Elias has been in practice since 1994. As a family dentist, he takes time to explain exactly what he will be doing and how long the procedure will take. Dr. Elias has furthered his practice by investing in many new and exciting technologies. These include two different types of dental lasers. Dr. Elias loves being part of a small community like Corydon where he can take care of multiple generations of families. When he’s not working, Dr. Elias spends time with his wife, Patti, and their four children.

Dr. C. Bryan Fox is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and has pursued many continuing education opportunities in sedation dentistry, clear aligners, and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Fox’s talents aren’t limited to dentistry. He is also lead singer for a rock band that plays several shows a month at local venues. When he’s not working or rocking, Dr. Fox spends his time with his wife, Ryan, and his beautiful girls,Dylan and Pepper.

Dr. Robert Fuchs received his dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1979, graduating in the top 5% of his class. Opening his practice in June 1979, Dr. Fuchs has practiced general dentistry at his present location since 1980. Dr. Fuchs is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, which is widely recognized as one of the country’s most prestigious post-graduate teaching institutions for neuromuscular health and cosmetics. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association and the Louisville Dental Society as well as an associate member of the Chicago Dental Society. Dr. Fuchs has been married to his wife, Martha, since 1974 and they have three children, Lauren, Danny and Carolyn. Other than dentistry, Dr. Fuchs and his family love to play golf!

Dr. Tatyana Furman studied biology at the University of Louisville and, after taking an undergraduate preview dentistry class, became fascinated with the artistry of dentistry. She graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and has been practicing her art for almost 20 years. Dr. Furman is originally from Ulyanovsk, Russia, where her mother was a medical doctor and helped shape her decision to find a career in the medical field.

She says what she enjoys most about dentistry is helping people to improve their smiles and overall health by improving their dental health. She admits to having a kind and gentle approach and loves explaining treatment options and educating the patient on why treatment is needed. Dr. Furman has been married for over 25 years, has two wonderful daughters and a large extended family. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking — especially baking bread — hiking with the family dog, reading and practicing yoga. 

Dr. Garrett Gast is a San Francisco, California, native. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon and the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. After graduating from dental school, he completed a residency in Advanced General Dentistry and was awarded Outstanding Resident of the Year. Dr. Gast’s father is an orthodontist, so dentistry has been a life-long passion for him. Dr. Gast has extensive experience in family and cosmetic dentistry, crowns, veneers, clear aligners, implants, root canals, dentures and complex dental cases. He enjoys treating patients of all ages in a patient-friendly and comfortable environment. In his spare time, Dr. Gast enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.

Dr. Christina Greenhalgh obtained a Bachelor of Science in finance before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She says what she enjoys most about dentistry is building relationships with her patients. She strives to provide comprehensive care while educating her patients so they feel in control of their dental health. Her goal is to create a comfortable and judgment-free environment. 

Dr. Greenhalgh is married to her husband, George, and they have a son, Leo, and a spunky goldendoodle, Stella. She enjoys cooking for friends and family, playing tennis and golf with her husband, walking with her family and exploring new restaurants. 

Dr. Christina Hamby is from Dawson Springs, Kentucky. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Louisville before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She says her own family dentist and orthodontist influenced her to become a dentist. She enjoyed going to her appointments and watching the interaction of the dental teams and how they cared for their patients. This made them very well respected in the small community she grew up in, which resonated with her. Dr. Hamby says what she loves most about dentistry is every day, every patient, and every procedure is different. She gets to work with each individual to plan the best possible outcome together. 

In her spare time, Dr. Hamby loves to travel, try new restaurants, cook and anything outdoors. She has a golden doodle named Oliver and is engaged to be married later this year.

Dr. Kara Hancock received her Bachelor of Science from Western Kentucky University before attending the University of Louisville School of Dentistry for her Doctor of Dental Medicine. She admits to being a bit of an artist because she loves solving problems and artistically helping teeth. She says the best part of being a dentist is the people she gets to meet and the conversations she gets to have every day. While growing up, Dr. Hancock’s dentist and orthodontist helped influence her to work in the dental field. They are why she tries to relate to her patients and make them feel as comfortable as possible. 

Dr. Hancock is married to her husband, Logan. In her spare time, she loves traveling, spending time with friends and family, eating out, and shopping. She also plays recreational sand volleyball and slowpitch softball. One of her true passions is to help care for animals. 

Dr. Lauren Hernandez began her dental career as a hygienist. She obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in dental hygiene from the University of Louisville before receiving her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Hernandez also completed an externship at the Midwest Implant Institute in 2021 and was inducted as a fellow in September of 2022. As a daughter of an Army officer, she moved around a lot, but calls Louisville home since being here since 2008. Dr. Hernandez credits her father for helping her decide to become a dentist because of her artistic eye. What she loves most about dentistry is getting to know her patients and making them feel as comfortable as possible no matter the procedure. 

Dr. Hernandez is married to her high school sweetheart and together they have four children. In her spare time she enjoys reading both fiction and nonfiction, exercising, and cooking for her friends and family. She loves Orange Theory Fitness and the Dallas Cowboys, but admits to being a Cowboys fan by marriage. Having lived in Guatemala as a child, she also loves being able to use her Spanish skills with patients!

Dr. Branham Hill, DMD, has been serving the greater Louisville area as a family general dentist since graduation. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Centre College and went on to earn a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Louisville Hospital where he received training in advanced general dentistry, oral surgery, and dental implants. Dr. Hill is excited to be a part of the Mortenson Family Dental family! In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing golf, and exploring all the great opportunities the Louisville area has to offer!

Dr. Nilima Horlander joined us after practicing in Chicago for over six years. She is originally from Louisville and attended Sacred Heart Academy before graduating from Xavier University. She continued her education and received her dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2005. Dr. Horlander and her husband, Greg, have two children and a sweet golden retriever named Henna. Dr. Horlander loves helping patients achieve the smile of their dreams. In her spare time, Dr. Horlander enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, cheering on the Louisville Cardinals (especially in basketball!) and taking walks with her kids.

Dr. Marcia Irving-Ray was born in London, England, and raised in northern New Jersey. She completed her undergraduate degree in botany from Rutgers University in 1985. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Science degree from Howard University College of Dentistry in 1991. Dr. Irving-Ray is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the National Dental Association. 

Her desire to pursue a career in dentistry came from having negative dental experiences as a child. For Dr. Irving-Ray, providing exceptional care for her patients and their oral health is a priority. Her goal is to earn their trust and provide a positive experience so they will walk out of the office with smiles and motivation to return.

When Dr. Irving-Ray is not practicing dentistry, she enjoys spending time with her husband. Together they have one daughter who is a chemical engineer in Baltimore, Maryland. She enjoys reading biographies, watching movies from the 30s and 40s era, as well as documentaries. She is an avid college basketball fan who eagerly anticipates March Madness. Dr. Irving-Ray is a member of a local music trivia team that competes every week. Something unique about her is that she was once a contestant on the game show, The Weakest Link. 

Dr. Mina Iskander is originally from Egypt, where he received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from October 6 University before obtaining his diploma in oral and dental surgery from Cairo University. While working on his diploma, he was also a general dentist at Egyptian military clinics. He most recently received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Iskander has over 20 years of dental experience which includes performing general dentistry, oral surgeries, being educated in oral immunology and infectious diseases, and receiving numerous recognitions and awards. In 2023, he received the Pierre Fauchard Academy Certificate of Merit, which is presented for outstanding and dedicated service to the dental profession. He has served for multiple dental missions in underserved communities in Uganda, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Malesia, Bangladesh, and Liberia, and is bilingual. Dr. Iskander has two children and in his spare time enjoys fixing cars and fishing.

Dr. Brandon James was born and raised right here in Louisville, Kentucky. He is excited to serve and live in the same community where he grew up. He attended DeSales High School and then continued his education at Morehead State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology. He was also a proud member of the DeSales Colts and Morehead State University Eagles football teams. He went on to attend the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine. When not treating patients, Dr. Brandon enjoys attending University of Louisville football and basketball games, spending weekends at Rough River Lake, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Sarah, have four daughters, Reese, Reagan, Grayson, and Evelyn who keep them both very busy.

For Dr. Zach James, dentistry is truly a family affair. Dr. Zach is a part of the Iroquois Park team and works alongside his brother, Dr. Brandon James, and sister, hygienist Sam Grant. Dr. Zach is a graduate of Morehead State University, where he played football and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Zach was raised in south Louisville, where he proudly attended DeSales High School and played football for the DeSales Colts. In his free time, Dr. Zach enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching University of Louisville sports, going to the lake, working out, and playing video games. Dr. Zach married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Linsey, a physical therapist. Together they have two boys, Paxton and Levi, who keep them very busy!

Originally from Corbin, Kentucky, she graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Having volunteered at a nonprofit dental clinic, Dr. Jones says this is what influenced her to become a dentist. What she enjoys most about being a dentist is her patients!

Dr. Jones and her husband have two daughters and in her spare time she loves to spend time with her family.

Dr. Joseph Koval was born in Orange County, New York, but moved to Kentucky in time to attend Oldham County High School. He continued his education at the University of Louisville and, after graduating from the School of Dentistry in 1996, joined the Mortenson Family Dental team and has practiced in Shelbyville, Kentucky, ever since. Dr. Koval and his wife, Holly, have three children, Nicole, Haley, and Ryan. They enjoy spending time boating on different lakes around the state. And, if there is any time left after practicing dentistry, raising three children, and going to the lake, Dr. Koval spends it restoring his classic Mustang.

Dr. Andrea Kyro received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She says what she enjoys most about dentistry is the artistry of the profession. That artistry allows her to work with her hands, but in a healthcare setting where she has the benefit of making a patient smile with not only a cosmetic change, but helping their overall health. She attributes her love of being a dentist to her mother and grandmother who were both dental assistants. Dr. Kyro grew up in the dental office watching her mother and grandmother bring comfort to the patients they treated and she wanted to carry on that same care to her patients. 

Dr. Kyro is married to her husband Zach and together they love serving their local church. They also have Ezra, their German Shepherd, and Eli the cat. In her spare time she enjoys painting, sculpting, reading, hiking, and traveling. Her most recent trips have been Lake Tahoe and Alaska.

Dr. Deanna LeCroix received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dayton followed by her Master of Science degree in oral biology from the University of Louisville. She then attended The Ohio State University where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Prior to attending dental school, Dr. LeCroix worked as a business associate at one of our Mortenson Family Dental practices in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. LeCroix is passionate about dentistry, dental education and using new technology to deliver exceptional care. She enjoys building relationships with her patients and providing a painless and positive experience with dentistry. In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy exploring the Maineville area trying new restaurants and visiting parks with their two golden retrievers.

Dr. Tyler Low is originally from Columbus, Ohio. He attended Brigham Young University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science. He then completed his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Low credits his brother, who he has always looked up to and is also a dentist, for playing a big role in helping him accomplish his dream of becoming a dentist. As a kid, Dr. Low admits to being self-conscious about his smile and knows what it’s like to be anxious about going to the dentist. His goal is to put his patients at ease and make them feel comfortable when it comes to having dental work done. When not spending time with his patients, he and his wife, Molly, are busy raising their daughter and dog, Peanut. Dr. Low enjoys learning new skills like leather working, cooking, grilling, and marksmanship. He also loves to travel having lived in Brazil for two years and is fluent in Portuguese. 

Dr. Josh McAlpin grew up in Somerset, Kentucky, where his father was a dentist. He attributes his desire and passion for becoming a dentist to his father. Dr. McAlpin attended Somerset Community College before finishing his undergraduate work at the University of Louisville and eventually graduated from University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. McAlpin has spent many years working in dental offices, including other Mortenson Family practices, gaining experience and increasing his dental knowledge. His ultimate goal is to make patients feel welcome and happy with their smile and even describes himself as “a bit of a perfectionist.” In his spare time, Dr. McAlpin enjoys working on cars, home renovations, camping and spending time with his family, which includes two daughters, Bella and Leighton.

Dr. Meclosky has practiced and enjoyed family and cosmetic dentistry for over 30 years, and is proud to be affiliated with Mortenson Family Dental in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in zoology from the University of South Florida before graduating from Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Meclosky has earned fellowships in both the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics. Fellowships can only be achieved after completing extensive dental implant training programs, review of successful implant cases and peer recommendations. Dr. Meclosky has also completed mini residency and advanced programs in oral surgery, advanced oral conscious sedation, cosmetics and restorative, and sleep bruxism disorders. He has provided free dental care to disadvantaged citizens through the state of Ohio’s OPTIONS Program as well as through the Leave No Veteran Behind program. Dr. Mark Meclosky is a past member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and Cincinnati Dental Society. He is a current member in the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Mark enjoys biking, hiking, and photography with his wife, Rosemaree, and their golden retriever, Bentley.

Dr. Hamzah Mehmood (Dr. Mood) graduated from Rutgers University, where he received his degree in biology. He then obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He holds memberships with the Indiana Dental Association, American Academy of General Dentistry and American Association of Women Dentists. Dr. Mood has a passion for aesthetic dentistry and is proficient in oral surgery and prosthodontics. His mission in his dental career is based on a quote he lives by, “Giving is a huge part of life and you don’t need to be rich to be charitable. Your happiness is worth more than anything you will ever own. So even a smile can be charity.”

Dr. Mood enjoys traveling and spending time with loved ones, as well as music and attending shows in his free time. He enjoys outdoor recreation, with his favorite being kayaking.

Dr. Jayme Meyer is from Taylorsville, Kentucky. She attended Georgetown College in Kentucky where she majored in biology before graduating from University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Meyer prides herself on going the extra distance with her patients to create positive relationships by making each patient she gets the opportunity to work with feel comfortable and at ease. She enjoys the artistry and creativity of dentistry and has been inspired by many dentists throughout her career who were both experienced and loved by their patients — something she strives for with her own patients. In her spare time, Dr. Meyer enjoys cooking, exercising, traveling and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Shaun, have 15 nieces and nephews!

Dr. Emily Monsma was born in Ashland, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and graduated in 2012. To Dr. Emily, dentistry is both an art and a science, and she loves that she can create something that can change someone’s life. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Greg, her sons, Hudson and Jesse, and their dog, Derby. Dr. Emily is excited to be serving patients and building lasting relationships.

Dr. Steven Moore earned his undergraduate degree in biomedical science from Morehead State University. He then advanced to the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. He pursued a career in dentistry because he saw the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Growing up, he had positive experiences going to the dentist and wants to provide the same care for his patients. Building genuine relationships and understanding their personal needs are important to him. He strives to offer a unique combination of cutting-edge technology, personalized care and a welcoming environment for the comfort of his patients. In his free time, Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercising, skiing, golf, reading and camping. He is also an avid Bengals fan and loves a good pizza! 

Dr. Matt Morgan was born in Louisville and grew up in neighboring Oldham County. Dr. Morgan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1996. He then completed an additional year of training through the University of Louisville’s hospital-based General Practice Residency. Dr. Morgan enjoys traveling and has been fortunate to participate in several dental mission trips to Nicaragua and the Amazon River in Brazil. Dr. Morgan also speaks functional Spanish and enjoys the opportunity to talk with patients in Spanish when possible. Dr. Morgan currently lives in Bloomfield, Kentucky, with his wife, Kelli, and their two daughters, Lili and Maia. When not working and traveling, he enjoys farming, and his favorite hobby, water-skiing.

Dr. Jeff Mortenson – or Dr. Jeff as he is affectionately known – was born in Douglas, Arizona. He moved to Louisville with his family so that his father, Dr. Wayne Mortenson, could pursue his education at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. 

Dr. Jeff is a proud graduate of Trinity High School. He served a two-year church mission in the Netherlands after graduating and is fluent in Dutch. He then attended Brigham Young University, where he pursued his undergraduate studies and subsequently graduated from the University of Louisville in 1999. He began practicing dentistry at Mortenson Family Dental right after graduation.

Dr. Kate Mortenson joins her grandfather, Dr. Wayne Mortenson, her father, Dr. Brent Mortenson, and many uncles and cousins in the Mortenson Family Dental family. Kate is a third-generation dentist and has been around dentistry her whole life. She began assisting her dad while in high school, but it was her time as an assistant at Stonehaven Dental while attending Utah Valley University that solidified her desire to go on to dental school. She graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and is a member of the Kentucky Dental Association and the American Dental Association.

Dr. Kate says what she likes most about dentistry is the patients. She loves getting to interact with so many different people every day and experience so many different things, noting that the days are never boring. Dr. Kate enjoys working out in her spare time, especially at Pure Barre and Cyclebar classes, as well as spending time at the lake in the summers with her family. She and her husband, Tyler, have a Yorkie named Roxy and a son, Owen Tyler Rost (named after her grandfather).

Dr. Mark Mortenson and his wife, Jessica, moved to Louisville to join his family and pursue his career in dentistry at the University of Louisville. He graduated in 2009 and in 2010 he joined the Jefferson Mall dental team. Dr. Mark prides himself as a techno geek and car enthusiast. He was fortunate to spend five years living in Central America, where he served a mission for his church and learned to speak fluent Spanish. As a patient, you may appreciate Dr. Mark’s calm reassuring demeanor or lighthearted approach toward children.

Dr. Matt Mortenson graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 2005. Although Louisville is now his permanent home, he was born and raised in the small town of Winnemucca, Nevada. He attended Brigham Young University where he met his wife, Jen. They were married in 1999 and made the trek across country to Kentucky so Matt could attend dental school. He has always admired and been inspired by his uncle, Dr. Wayne Mortenson, and is so happy to be following in his footsteps in dentistry. He has been recognized with the Individual Achievement Award by the prestigious dental organization. Matt and Jen have six young children: Megan, Ben, Zac, Jake, Max and Ava. Needless to say, Matt stays very busy at work and at home, and enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and kids.

If you’ve been to our LaGrange office, you’ve probably seen Dr. Todd Mortenson and experienced his knack for charming his patients with his charismatic personality! Todd moved to Louisville from Arizona when he was just a toddler while his dad attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. After graduating from Trinity High School, Dr. Todd pursued his undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry himself in 1998. He has been working for Mortenson Family Dental ever since. Todd has four children: Hannah, Nolan, Lucas and Angela.

Dr. Chris New is originally from Somerset, Kentucky. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Morehead State University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He admits to being extremely detailed when it comes to explaining dental treatment to patients to help them feel educated, informed and comfortable making decisions about their oral health. What he loves most about dentistry is when a patient leaves happy after treatment. In his spare time, Dr. New enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, Caitlyn, and daughters, Delilah and Maeve. He also likes to participate in outdoor activities like swimming, camping, soccer and teaching his oldest daughter how to ride a bike.

Dr. Thu Nguyen obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She is a compassionate and dedicated dentist who is committed to providing exceptional dental care to her patients. Her journey to dentistry began with her personal experiences as a patient, which instilled in her a deep understanding of the importance of comfort, trust and building strong relationships with her patients. Dr. Nguyen’s family immigrated to Louisville, Kentucky, from Vietnam when she was four years old. She grew up with a strong sense of family values and remains close to her immediate and extended family. In her spare time, she enjoys pickleball, Cyclebar and HIIT workouts.

Dr. Dhruvina Patel grew up in Louisville and attended the University of Louisville for both her undergraduate and dental degrees. In high school, Dr. Patel was part of the Norton Healthcare program that introduced students to different fields of healthcare. This is where she developed her interest in dentistry. Being highly motivated is something that comes easy to Dr. Patel, but being able to connect with patients, helping to make a difference in their smile and giving back to the community are what she enjoys most about dentistry. In her spare time, Dr. Patel enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, hiking and canoeing.

Dr. Macy Payton is originally from Middlesboro, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky where she received a Bachelor of Science in nutrition before attending the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry for her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry. Her two siblings and parents are all in the medical field, so having the passion for caring for others has been instilled in her since birth. Helping someone with their smile and giving that confidence back to a patient is her favorite part of being a dentist. Dr. Payton is married and in her spare time enjoys playing pickleball or board games, traveling (especially to Disney World!), and trying new local restaurants. 

Dr. Nadia Pendleton is originally from Corydon, Indiana, and began her dental career as a hygienist. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene from Indiana University Fort Wayne. After being a hygienist for a couple of years, she decided to further her dental education at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry with her Doctor of Medicine in dentistry. Dr. Pendleton is married to Dr. Michael Kornblatt  — who is a pediatric dentist with our Kid’s Dentistree brand — and together they have one daughter. In her spare time she enjoys homesteading, hiking and practicing yoga. She says what she enjoys most about dentistry is building relationships with her patients. 

Dr. Emily Powell attended Western Kentucky University for her undergraduate degree, the University of Louisville School of Dentistry for her DMD, and then the University of Kentucky General Practice Residency. Dr. Emily is an adjunct faculty for UKCD. She loves teaching and ensuring her patients understand how to best care for their oral health. Dr. Emily, her husband Chris, and their two daughters attend Frankfort FUMC and participate in the music programs there. Dr. Emily’s favorite things are music, reading, games, and traveling- her favorite place to visit is NYC! She looks forward to getting to know you as she helps you hit your goals for your smile!

Dr. Jera Redman-Owens is a native of Taylorsville, Kentucky. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from the University of Louisville and her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Owens practiced in Georgia for over six years before moving back to Louisville. Although she loves all aspects of dentistry, her passion is for pediatric and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Owens resides in Louisville with her husband John, son Evan, and Woody (the wonder dog). Her hobbies include reading, traveling, biking, water sports, all college sporting events and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. Dani Renslow, who grew up in California, moved to Utah her sophomore year in high school. Dr. Renslow attended Brigham Young University (BYU) for her undergraduate studies. While attending BYU, Dr. Renslow was also involved in many research programs and attended Stanford University’s John Hopkins Marine Center in California. When she decided to make dentistry her career, Dr. Renslow attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where she graduated in 2003. Dr. Renslow now practices in our Carrollton office and we couldn’t be happier to have such a caring doctor for our patients. Dr. Dani has two beautiful little girls with her husband, Scott. In her spare time, Dr. Dani enjoys snowboarding, reading and anything related to art.

Dr. Rethiyamma earned her undergraduate degree from Boston University. She then advanced into Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine where she graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. When she’s not helping others brighten their smiles, this Louisville native’s husband, Viswakumar, and daughter, Priya, help brighten hers.

Dr. Rachel Reynolds is originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Campbellsville University before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Reynolds is passionate about helping patients overcome their fear of the dentist. She enjoys meeting patients in their current state and not dwelling on their past, but helping them to become better educated and thus better with their oral health. It is very important to Dr. Reynolds that she understands her patients’ needs and makes them feel comfortable and confident as their dental provider. 

Dr. Reynolds is married to her husband, Jesse, and they will be welcoming their first child this coming March 2025. She enjoys doing CrossFit, paddle boarding, traveling, hiking and trying new restaurants. 

Dr. Sydney Salow is from Ashland, Kentucky. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in human nutrition from the University of Kentucky before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She says her own family dentist influenced her to become a dentist. She learned from her that dentistry can be an art and saw the kind of impact you can make on patients and their confidence by helping them with their smile. Dr. Salow says what she enjoys most about being a dentist is seeing patients take control of their oral health and how that affects them and their overall health. Being able to assure patients who are self conscious or nervous that she is here to help and to find a plan that suits their needs is very rewarding for her.

Dr. Salow is married and in her spare time loves to read, work out and cheer on the University of Kentucky baseball team. 

Dr. Hugo Sanchez was born in Cuba and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Indiana University Southeast and completed his undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in chemistry. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. 

Dr. Sanchez enjoys talking with his patients and building relationships. Being fluent in Spanish also helps him make connections. His overall goal is to make his patients feel more comfortable in the chair by providing the necessary treatment and solutions for their dental needs. In his spare time, he enjoys watching and playing soccer.

Dr. Hend Sherif is originally from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology from Florida International University and a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from Barry University before earning her dental degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. What Dr. Sherif enjoys most about dentistry is helping patients manage their oral health while establishing a relationship with them and making them feel comfortable. In her spare time, Dr. Sherif loves reading, DIY projects, exploring nature and exercising.

Dr. Ellie Smith obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine from University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. She is a dedicated dentist who is committed to providing excellent dental care to her patients. She knew from a very early age that she wanted to find a career where she could be challenged with working with her hands and people. Her family dentist encouraged her to look into dentistry and, from there, she never looked back. She has extensive training in digital dentistry and is always looking for opportunities to learn more to provide top level care for her patients. Dr. Ellie Smith grew up in Independence, Kentucky. She is very family oriented and loves to spend time with her nephews, who she adores. In her spare time, she enjoys playing pickleball and eating Mexican food. 

Dr. Michael Sparks relocated from Mesa, Arizona, to Kentucky in 2007 to attend the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. Dr. Sparks recognizes that most people don’t like coming to the dentist and strives to make it as comfortable as possible. Any free time Dr. Sparks has is spent working on antique cars, especially 1932 to1940 Fords. Dr. Sparks enjoys spending time with his wife and family!

Dr. Ryan Sparks is originally from Taylorsville, Kentucky. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Kentucky before graduating from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. What she enjoys most about dentistry are the bonds that are formed with patients. She also enjoys helping patients overcome any fears and making them feel comfortable during their visit. Dr. Sparks is married to her husband, Mike, and together they have two daughters. In her spare time, she loves watching the UK Wildcats, gardening, baking and traveling. She’s hoping to travel to all 50 states in her lifetime!  

Dr. Joshua Stratton is from Phelps, Kentucky, and graduated from Pikeville College where he studied biology. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Stratton is a member of the Louisville Dental Society and the American Dental Association and is trained specifically in implant placements, IV sedation, impacted third molar extractions and molar endodontics. In his spare time, Dr. Stratton enjoys hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking and sports, especially cheering for the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

Dr. Rafael Suarez received his Bachelor of Arts in biology as well as his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of Louisville. He was also a proud member of the United States Army where he was a mechanic on AH-64 Apache and UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. Dr. Suarez admits to being meticulous about his quality of work and thinks dental treatment should go beyond just fixing teeth. It should be an experience that leaves a lasting impression and that’s what he loves about being a dentist. Dr. Suarez enjoys playing pickleball, spending time with his family, camping and traveling.

Dr. Sarah Sukhorukov is originally from Gainesville, Florida, and received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida. She then moved to Louisville, Kentucky to attend dental school at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. While attending, she met her future husband, Alex, who is also a dentist. Together they have two children — daughter Milana and son Dimitry. Dr. Sarah worked as a dental assistant for two years while obtaining her undergraduate degree which is what immediately sparked her interest in dentistry. She loves all aspects of dentistry — especially cosmetic dentistry — and prides herself in developing strong lifelong relationships with her patients. In her spare time, Dr. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family which she says is what is most important to her as well as Salsa dancing, reading, traveling, cooking, volunteering and exercising. 

Dr. Anze Tavcar was born and raised in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Admitting his enjoyment in challenges, Dr. Tavcar stepped completely out of his comfort zone by leaving his country right after high school and enrolling at Indiana University. While there, he pursued his love of swimming, even competing in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! Dr. Tavcar then went on to complete dental school at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Not only did he receive his Doctorate of Dental Medicine, but he also completed a postdoctoral hospital residency at the University of Louisville Hospital. Helping others is what brings Dr. Tavcar joy, which is why he pursued a career in dentistry. He believes everything in dentistry is important, but places a big emphasis on patient communication and management of expectations. 

In his spare time, Dr. Tavca enjoys swimming and playing pickleball. He also appreciates a good cup of coffee. While he has no plans to move back to Slovenia, he loves traveling there at least once a year as the rest of his family still lives there. Dr. Tavcar encourages anyone with a passion for outdoor adventures or fine dining restaurants inside castles to add Slovenia to your travel list.

Dr. Adriana Tase Tenrrero is originally from Cuba. She attended the University of Louisville for her Bachelor of Arts in psychology before graduating from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Her favorite part about being a dentist is the sense of pride she gets from helping patients achieve confidence by giving them a beautiful smile. She not only admits to what a challenge dentistry can be, but that it’s an always evolving profession that keeps her mind sharp with new procedures, techniques and materials to learn. Dr. Tenrrero is fluent in Spanish and in her spare time enjoys reading, writing, gardening, doing home projects and spending time with her parents and husband.

Dr. Alicia Tenrrero-Villalon grew up in Bayamo, Cuba, and moved to the U.S. in 2008. With more than 35 years of experience in dentistry, she has been a general dentist, oral surgeon and a clinical instructor in Cuba. After moving to the United States, she was a dental assistant at Kid’s Dentistree for six years. Dr. Tenrrero-Villalon now lives in Louisville with her husband and has two children. A patient’s comfort and satisfaction are of utmost importance to Dr. Tenrrero-Villalon, along with helping them achieve a healthy smile for a healthy and positive life. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, watching TV, listening to salsa music and traveling with her family. She’s also a big fan of Cuban food!

Dr. Thomas Thurman is a Louisville native who received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1981. Dr. Thurman met his wife, Susan, a reading specialist for JCPS, when they were both high school students. They have been married since 1978 and have two grown sons, Jeff and Todd. Dr. Thurman is a big advocate for the Boy Scouts of America. On the weekends you might find him rappelling over a cliff, backpacking through the woods, or whitewater rafting. Dr. Thurman also enjoys driving and restoring sports cars, boating on Lake Cumberland and doing home improvement projects.

Dr. Todd Thurman is originally from Louisville, Kentucky, and currently resides in Florence. He graduated with honors from the University of Louisvill e(U of L) with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and a minor in mathematics. He then earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from U of L School of Dentistry. Dr. Thurman loves dentistry because it allows him to work with his hands and he enjoys the problem-solving skills required to diagnose and treat new cases. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Kentucky Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. In his free time, Dr. Thurman enjoys spending time outdoors, either camping and hiking or spending time on the water at Lake Cumberland. His dad, Dr. Thomas Thurman, is also a dentist with Mortenson Family Dental in Middletown, Kentucky.

Dr. Lisa M. Vasseur is a lifelong resident of northern Kentucky. She has been providing dental care to patients for over 22 years. Dr. Vasseur was a dental assistant before deciding to go to dental school, and she received her dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Her favorite part of dentistry is connecting with patients on a personal level. She once saw a sign that said, “a smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.” Dr. Vasseur says it’s an amazing feeling to be entrusted to take care of a patient’s mouth health and smile.

Dr. Vasseur resides with her husband, two girls and fur babies out in the country close to the famous Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. She loves all things outdoors, including getting to take in beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Her motto is to be kind to others and live life to the fullest every day.

Dr. Walker was born in Florida and attended the University of Florida for her undergraduate studies. She decided to leave the Sunshine State to attend University of Louisville School of Dentistry where she graduated in 2003. After graduation, Dr. Walker served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy where she was stationed in San Diego and Atsugi, Japan. After her four-year commitment was complete, Dr. Walker was excited to move back to Louisville with her family. When Dr. Walker is not working, she spends her spare time with her family, including husband, Michael, son, Henry, and daughter, Elsie, and enjoying the adventures that they bring!

Dr. Justin Wise is from Campbellsville, Kentucky, and received his dental degree at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. He lives in northern Kentucky with his wife, Erin. Dr. Wise loves dentistry because of the impact that enhancing someone’s smile can have on their life. He also enjoys educating and encouraging his patients on how to better their oral health. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, running, trying new restaurants, and cheering for the Bengals. Dr. Wise is very excited to be a part of this team and help any new or existing patients in any way that he can

Dr. Wright was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating from Louisville Male High School, he attended the University of Louisville where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Upon graduating, Dr. Wright was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves. He was then accepted to the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and graduated in 1998. After being promoted to Captain, Dr. Wright entered the Army on active duty and served over eight years as a dentist in places like Fort Hood in Texas, Bosnia and Germany. Having served his country and achieved the rank of Major, he left the Army with a dream of returning home and opening a dental practice. Dr. Wright opened our Jeffersonville, Indiana, office in October of 2007. During his spare time, Dr. Wright can be found enjoying nature as an avid outdoor sportsman. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Dr. Natali Zolotareva is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Louisville (U of L) with both her undergraduate and dental degrees. While in dental school, Dr. Zolotareva was inducted into U of L’s Delphi Society and, upon graduating, was elected into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honor Dental Society. Dr. Zolotareva always wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. As a dentist, she is motivated to help patients gain confidence in their smile and oral health. In her free time, Dr. Zolotareva enjoys reading, exploring new places and spending time with family.
